This Pumpkin Spice Hair Color is something I created for a Brand Educator position with my favorite hair color line, Pravana. If you’re interested in watching how I did this as well as getting my exact formulations, scroll down to the “How to” section to find my Youtube video.

What is the best hair color for fall?

Autumn colors are warmer colors that mimic the leaves changing with the season. Typically fall is associated with reds, oranges, browns, and yellows. So naturally, you’ll want to incorporate these colors into your hair starting in the “ber” months.

If you’re wondering how you can incorporate autumn colors into your hair with your skin tone, take a look at my recent post here where I create a Strawberry Blonde Ombré. I explain how you can choose fall colors no matter if your skin is warm, cool, fair, or dark. Strawberry blonde is also a great option if you’re looking for something a little lighter than the Pumpkin Spice color in this post.

Below is a list of common hair color choices for fall whether you’re blonde or brunette

  • Strawberry blonde

As a brunette, you already have the “brown” aspect going for you, so you’ve got a head start! And if you have any highlights, you’re even further along your journey to landing the perfect brunette hair color for fall.

In the section above, we talked about numerous shades that are ideal for autumn. You’ll want to pick the options that are best with your skin tone, and incorporate them into your brunette hair similarly to the image above.

You can do this by toning over highlights or adding low lights to your current color. In the next section, I give you my best recommendation for toning over highlights easily by yourself from home.

If you’re familiar with my blog, than you know that I highly recommend using color toning shampoos and conditioners at home. This type of product has been a game changer for maintaining your color at home in-between your salon visits.

These products have been particularly beneficial for reds and copper colors that typically fade very quickly. You no longer need to wash your hair in freezing cold water to avoid your color from fading, and you can now deposit more color each time you wash your hair.

They are semi-permanent colors that are added into shampoo and conditioner. So each time you wash your hair, you’re adding more pigment rather than fading it away.

You can also use these products to deposit a new color yourself over previously highlighted hair, which makes them perfect for creating the perfect brunette hair color for fall. You don’t need both the shampoo and the conditioner, and can use one or the other. I’ve linked both below because the shampoos have different color options than the conditioners, so you can choose the shade that’s best for you!

How to: Pumpkin Spice Hair Color

As I briefly mentioned earlier, I created this Pumpkin Spice Hair Color as a submission to becoming a brand educator with Pravana.

In the video below I demonstrate how I got to this final result from a solid brunette as well as share my hair color formulations.

This is definitely more of an advanced “How to”, so for an easier solution I recommend using the “Amber” and/or the “Fire Opal” color toning conditioners that I mentioned in the section above over already highlighted hair.

Conclusion

Now that autumn has arrived, it’s time to find the best brunette hair color for fall this season. Fall hair colors are typically warmer colors including reds, oranges, yellows, and browns. Take a look at my Pumpkin Spice color in the photos in this post for my favorite example.

For brunettes, this is relatively easy to achieve by adding highlights and/or lowlights over your natural hair color. You can then tone over the highlights with your favorite fall shade. At home, you can easily do this by using a color depositing shampoo or conditioner over previously highlighted hair.
