The Best Method To Remove A Skin Tag From Home
If you’re like me, then you know all about those pesky skin tags. I’m not sure if it’s from my European heritage or just bad luck, but I get so many of them. In this post I’m going to explain my past experience of having a skin tag removed, as well as give you my secret weapon for wiping these things out the best way possible.
Note** I am not a doctor and am not giving medical advice, I’m only sharing my experience. I highly recommend you see a dermatologist if you have a skin tag especially if it has changed colors or shape. I also want to say that you are in control of your own body, and I am not responsible for anything that you choose to do or not do after reading this blog post.
Why would you remove a skin tag?
First, lets talk about why we would remove a skin tag to begin with. Generally the only time I’ve removed a skin tag is when it becomes a problem. Usually for me, this means it’s causing pain from rubbing against my clothes.
I’ve also had them in my armpit which is a frequently shaved area. This was difficult and painful!
I have been to the dermatologist to have these things removed countless times. I want to point out that this is the best method, because they’ll likely send it away to make sure theres nothing to be concerned about in it (cancer).
But as a self-employed person with terrible health insurance, this became a bit of a hassle for me. Especially because I know that I am prone to developing these harmless things regularly.
How to remove a skin tag from home
So this is when I began my research on how to remove a skin tag myself from the comfort of my home. I found numerous methods, including what I would consider old wives tales and homeopathic routes. Typically I am not one to try out the “all natural” methods, and this experience strengthened that stance.
Tea Tree & essential oils
Tea Tree and essential oils were highly recommended for removal of skin tags. You are supposed to apply the tea tree oil twice a day, basically for the rest of your life. After about a week of this, I gave up because I saw absolutely no results.
I would group any typical at home solution into this category, as I’ve also seen toothpaste as a suggestion.
Topical ointments
The second method I tried was a topical cream that basically freezes the skin tag. It hardens and turns into a scab, then falls off. I bought the solution from Amazon and it looked like it came straight from China. But let me tell you, this stuff worked!
I will say, it burned like absolute hell. It felt like I was being stung by a bee for 5-10 minutes straight. I have many tattoos, and this hurt way worse than the feeling of a tattoo needle. I also want to mention that it removed part of my tattoo where there was a skin tag over the tattoo. Now, I have a visible scar there.
After a few months, the solution hardened in the container and I wasn’t able to use it any longer. And the worst part; IT WAS NO LONGER ON AMAZON! I searched high and low for this stuff, including their own website. I’m not sure if it has been banned, but it’s certainly no longer avaliable.
I also wasn’t able to find other brands that seemed like they were the same solution. The only solutions I could find were the “all natural” route, which I had already tried with no success.

When I first bought the Neatcell laser, I actually purchased it to attempt to remove some of my tattoos at home. (Leave a comment if you’d like me to share that experience with you.) After about 6 months of owning this, I realized that the removal of skin tags was one of the advertised features of the laser pen.
Neatcell carries 2 different lasers, red and blue. I have both of them. The blue is stronger than the red, and has way more uses. I tested both lasers for removing skin tags, and the blue laser worked fantastically but the red laser did not work at all. So be sure that you are purchasing the blue laser not the red one.
I also want to mention that this did hurt, but not nearly as bad as the topical ointment did! Really starting to wonder what the heck was in that stuff??
Settings
When using the blue laser pen to remove a skin tag, be sure to wear the included eye protection. If you don’t, you could cause some serious damage to your retinas.
You’ll set your desired frequency as well as the desired intensity. The frequency is how fast the light blinks, and the intensity is how strong the laser is. The frequency settings are 1-9, and the intensity only goes up to 4.
I always keep the frequency at 1, but you can do as you choose. I set the intensity depending on how sensitive the skin is where I’m using the laser, usually somewhere between 2-4.
How to use the laser pen
You’ll use the power button on the side to fire the laser. Be sure that you aren’t hovering over the skin tag for too long, as you can burn and damage the skin. You really only need to hit it for a second or two.
I really noticed the skin tag turn white after I hit it with the laser, which is exactly what happened when I used the topical ointment that burned the previous skin tag off. This is how I knew it was going to work and that I had hit the skin tag enough with the laser.
I definitely recommend following the directions that come with the laser to become fully aware how it works.
Skin Tag Remocal Conclusion
Skin tags can cause irritation from our clothes rubbing against them and become a bothersome annoyance. The good thing is that they can easily be removed.
There are a number of methods recommended that you can use to remove skin tags:
- Visit your dermatologist
- Tea Tree oil or toothpaste
- Topical ointments
- Laser pens
I have personally found that the all natural methods don’t work, and if you can’t make it to your dermatologist, you’re left with topical ointments and the laser pen.
Unfortunately I believe the topical ointment that I once used has been banned due to chemicals it contains, although this is just speculation.
I have found the best method to remove these pesky skin tags is with the Neatcell Blue Light Laser Pen.
